Meet the Maker : she plants love

The butter by she plants love

This is a story about a woman who took a leap of faith. An NYC native, after years spent working in digital media, Far decided it was time for a fresh start.

Settling in Rhode Island, she invested in her own venture and founded a skincare line.

Driven by her search for products gentle enough for her skin, she decided to make her own, and she plants love was born.  The gender-neutral line is organic, cruelty free and lovingly handmade by Far.

In an effort to create functional and versatile skincare, the line launched with a single product called, the butter.  Far has succeeded in creating a multi functional formula that works for a variety of issues and that is suitable for all skin types.

We caught up the she plants love founder and got the inside scoop from Far herself!

LL: What was the motivation behind the plant based formula?

SPL: Plants are medicinal, it’s what our ancestors used and it worked for them, I wanted to stay true to ancient remedies. Plants are packed with essential nutrients that benefit skin health and our overall wellbeing. I feel they are much more powerful than any synthetic ingredient.

LL: Why did you decide to create a multi-purpose formula?

SPL: I believe in attainable self-care rituals, and with that, functional skincare. Multi-purpose products serve that purpose, they are usually easy to use, easy to travel with and help de-clutter your skincare regimen. Life is already hectic for most people, so our products should be effective and simple.

LL: Are there any specific skin conditions the butter works especially well for?

SPL: the butter is effective and reparative; it works really well on all skin types, including those struggling with rosacea, eczema, psoriasis.

LL: What advice would you give women who are trying to transition to a more natural skin care regimen?

SPL: Transition one product at a time, it’s the only way I know to truly stick with something. Instead of overhauling your entire skincare regimen, start slow. Swap a product that you use daily and can’t live without for a cleaner version and than go from there.

LL: What are your go to natural beauty products?

SPL: If you peaked into my medicine cabinet right now, you would find, she plants love of course, w3ll people. vapour, hynt beauty, kjaer weis to name a few.

LL: Sustainability is the cornerstone of what we do at Love Local. Why is sustainability important to she plants love?

SPL: There’s enough environmental stressors in the world, I don’t want she plants love to be another contributor. Sustainability is something that comes up daily around here; I put a lot of effort into carefully selecting our ingredients and materials for the business so that it has minimal to no impact on the environment.

All of our ingredients thus far are certified organic; we are also looking into fair trade when possible. Supporting organic farming is one of our biggest priorities when it comes to ingredient sourcing. Even though we are a young indie brand, we are mindful in how we manufacture, pack and ship our products. We are mostly using repurposed or recycled boxes and jars that are made of glass.

LL: What inspired you to partner with the One Tree Planted Organization?

SPL: One Tree Planted is an incredible organization and they have a global impact. Trees are such a vital part of life, they help clean the air we breathe, filter water, and provide a home for 80% of the world’s biodiversity. I couldn’t think of a better organization to partner with, we feel very lucky.

The message is clear, live simply, fully and beautifully. To do so doesn’t require a lot of money or a fancy brand.  she plants love is a bright new example of simple, natural beauty made in small batches by hand.
